Game Demo


Hello all,

 When this game is done, it will be my 2nd game. Taking part in the Pixel Art Jam was to motivate me to work within a fixed timeline.

Compared to my first game, I had a 2 week time period so it was abit longer. During this time, I was trying to learn how to implement these features :

1) character selection 2) quest progression 3) an inventory and 4) a basic economy.

The most time consuming was figuring out how to use Math functions to add and subtract money from the moneybox to the player and vice versa, and how the number changes when the player buys something etc. Even though the final outcome is very basic, it was a challenge for a non-programmer like myself. For the inventory, my challenge was learning how to change the player sprites, and have the correct icons show up whenever a player picks up or leaves behind an item. 


By the time I figured all these things out, I had little time left to work on the art and building the game. Hence, this current release is just a demo with basic introductions to the various features mentioned above. I plan to continue working on this game over the next few weeks and when it's done, it should have 6 unique guest stories, including one over-arcing storyline.

I'm not sure about including multi-endings yet,  although that was the original plan - but it means I have to make more art, and I'd like to devote my time to working on the GB Compo 2023 instead. We'll see.
